“New Hampshire is a tough track, and you really need to be able to handle in the corners,” said Almirola. “We unloaded tight. After adjustments and a big temperature swing, we were way too loose in the race. The team made some good adjustments that helped the car, but we didn’t have an opportunity to make up the ground lost.
“New Hampshire Motor Speedway can be a challenge to get a handle on because it’s such a unique racetrack. It’s flat, and the corners are really long. You spend more time in the corners there than you do on the straightaways which is much different than most of the tracks that we go to.
Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Smithfield Ford team started the Tales of the Turtles 400 from the 21st spot. Tight in the middle of the corners, Almirola complimented how the Fusion handled on the entry of the corners early in the race.
The No. 43 Smithfield Ford team and driver Aric Almirola came back from one lap down to finish 17th in Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at the Richmond (Va.) Raceway.
“I really like racing at Richmond, especially at night. With the Playoff cutoff and racing under the lights, there is just so much energy at that race. We’ve done pretty well at Richmond and finished ninth in the spring.
