Saturday’s Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway was full of challenges for the JR Motorsports teams of Aric Almirola and Danica Patrick. Debuting the TaxSlayer.com paint scheme on the No. 88 Chevrolet, Almirola twice fell a lap down to the leaders and twice rebounded to regain lead lap status en route to a 13th-place finish. Danica Patrick and the No. 7 Go Daddy team pieced together a solid race for the second straight week. Patrick avoided trouble, posted solid lap times, and capped the day with a 17th-place finish.

“Last week was a tough race for our 88 team. At Daytona you always want to come out of the box strong, and man, did we have a fast car. We definitely would have been up front with the leaders, but we had a motor issue and it cost us a good run. That’s just part of racing. Sometimes things are just out of your control, and you’ve got to continue to be focused and move on.

“This year Daytona is going to be a little bit different with the repaving of the race track. It’s going to be an unknown for most teams. So going down there with our GT Vodka team, we have a little extra testing time, which is going to be great for us. I’ve raced with a lot of the guys that are going to be in the Nationwide race at Daytona.
