Bristol Preview

“I love racing at Bristol. I liked it a lot back when it was the old surface, and I like it with the variable banking, too. There is just something about that place that really gets me fired up to go racing.

JR MOTORSPORTS RACE REPORT: Las Vegas

Danica Patrick Makes History in Vegas, Finishes 4th

Almirola Brings Taxslayer.com Chevy Home In 15th

LAS VEGAS, (March 5, 2011) –  Danica Patrick and the No. 7 Go Daddy team raced its way into the record books and also earned the best finish of JR Motorsports’ two-car tandem in Saturday’s Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Patrick finished in fourth position to become the highest finishing female in any NASCAR national touring series race.  For the second consecutive week, Aric Almirola and the No. 88 crew wrestled a loose condition throughout the race.  The team remedied some of the issues after its final stop, but with only a handful of laps remaining Almirola ran out of time to improve his positioning, ending the day in 15th.  In a dramatic finish, Brad Keselowski cut a tire shortly after taking the white flag as the race leader.  His misfortune handed the win to NASCAR veteran Mark Martin.  Martin was followed to the stripe by Justin Allgaier with Keselowski finishing third. Patrick and Trevor Bayne rounded out the top-five finishers.

“It’s been an unfortunate couple of weeks for our TaxSlayer.com team. I’m anxious to get to Las Vegas, where I’m hopeful we can turn this thing around and get back to the business of competing for a championship. I’ve said all along that’s what we’re here to do, and we’ve gotten behind the eight ball a little bit. We’re as good as any team in this garage.”

Phoenix Race Report

Saturday’s Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway was full of challenges for the JR Motorsports teams of Aric Almirola and Danica Patrick. Debuting the TaxSlayer.com paint scheme on the No. 88 Chevrolet, Almirola twice fell a lap down to the leaders and twice rebounded to regain lead lap status en route to a 13th-place finish. Danica Patrick and the No. 7 Go Daddy team pieced together a solid race for the second straight week. Patrick avoided trouble, posted solid lap times, and capped the day with a 17th-place finish.

Phoenix Preview

“Last week was a tough race for our 88 team. At Daytona you always want to come out of the box strong, and man, did we have a fast car. We definitely would have been up front with the leaders, but we had a motor issue and it cost us a good run. That’s just part of racing. Sometimes things are just out of your control, and you’ve got to continue to be focused and move on.
