For the second consecutive week, Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Smithfield Ford team had a really fast car. Starting 24th in Sunday’s Bank of America 500 at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, Almirola raced to 13th before a loose wheel forced an unscheduled pit stop.
Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Smithfield Ford team headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway in May unsure of when he would be back in the car after an injury in Kansas sidelined him. Almirola watched Regan Smith pilot the “Petty Blue” Ford from his couch. The team started 25th and finished 22nd in the season’s longest race. This weekend, they will work on a setup for daytime racing at the 1.5-mile track.
Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Smithfield Ford team had two untimely cautions ultimately define their efforts during Sunday’s Apache Warrior 400 at the Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
Dover International Speedway is one of Aric Almirola’s favorite tracks. A back injury forced Almirola to watch the race at Dover earlier this year from afar. Almirola will lean on his team for notes from substitute driver Regan Smith.
